A truck driver from Nebraska was killed in an early morning wreck that shut down a Lyon Co. highway Monday morning.
The wreck happened around 4 a.m. on Highway 50, two miles west of Emporia. The Lyon Co. Sheriff's Office says a tractor-trailer hit a bridge railing, went into the ditch, and rolled.
The driver, Michael Happel, of Lexington, Nebraska, died at the scene.
The highway was shut down for several hours. It reopened around 7 a.m., but the shoulder remained closed throughout the day.
