TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - Shawnee Co. Parks and Rec is getting a jump start on summer jobs.
The organization hosted a High School Seasonal job fair Monday. They hope Shawnee Heights and Auburn-Washburn district students can help fill nearly 300 spring and summer positions.
Jobs range from life guards and golf course maintenance to cashiers and drivers for Gage Park's mini-train.
Parks and Rec says they are one of the largest companies hiring.
"We have those jobs that are good for 16-year-olds and we know it's kind of daunting to apply for your first job so we wanted a place where you could come in, ask questions, meet some of the hiring supervisors, just to kind of ease that feeling of your first time job," said Olivia Mayer, the Professional Development and Services Superintendent.
If you missed Monday's fair don't worry. Parks and Rec is hosting another for Seaman, Hayden, Silver Lake and Rossville kids February 18th and Topeka Public School kids February 20th, both at the Topeka Workforce Building, 1430 SW Topeka Blvd.
