Overnight garage fire under investigation
The Topeka Fire Department is investigating what caused a garage fire to erupt early Monday morning.
According to Shawnee County Dispatch tells 13 NEWS fire crews responded to 1634 SW Harrison at around 3:15 a.m. after receiving reports of the blaze.
When they arrived, they say the detached garage was fully engulfed. Crews had to stay back farther than they were wanting due to a downed power line.
Crews had to spray water from a greater distance until Westar was able to cut the electricity to the downed line.
No word on if anyone was injured.
SW 17th between Topeka Blvd. and Kansas Ave. was blocked off while crews were on scene.
