Overbrook man surrenders after hours-long standoff

OVERBROOK, Kan. (WIBW) -- A 28-year-old man facing multiple warrants was taken into custody early Friday morning after a standoff that lasted nearly four hours.

According to the Osage Co. Sheriff’s Office, Bradley Mitchell was wanted on warrants in Osage Co., Douglas Co., and Franklin Co., as well as from the Kansas Dept. of Corrections, when deputies tried to arrest him at his home, 4063 E. 189th Street, near Overbrook.

Sheriff Laurie Dunn says Mitchell barricaded himself inside around 12:20 a.m. Negotiators from her Office and the Kansas Bureau of Investigation were able to coerce him into surrendering without incident around 4 a.m.
