MELVERN, Kan. (WIBW) The Kansas City District is encouraging occupants of Outlet Park to evacuate the area by 3 p.m. today.

Melvern Lake has continued to rise due to all of the rain that has fallen in the last week. It is currently 78 percent filled, and is within three feet of the uncontrolled spillway.

The lake is projected to rise to 1,055 feet on Sunday, which is just under the mark of 1,057 that causes water to flow uncontrolled through the spillway.

Campgrounds and facilities at the lake can be directly affected by the water if it flows out of the outlet.

For more information, the Public Affairs Office can be contacted at (816) 389-3486.
