Ottawa man admits to looking for child "sex slave"
An Ottawa man faces up to 30-years in prison after he was busted in a child sex sting.
U.S. Attorney Stephen McAllister said Michael David Mitchell, 64, pleaded guilty to one count of interstate travel to engage in unlawful sexual conduct on Tuesday.
McAllister says in June 2017, Mitchell drove to Independence, Missouri, to meet with a woman who he believed was willing to sell her 10-year-old daughter for sex.
Officials said Mitchell had $5,000 cash to pay in exchange for the minor, whom he could make his sex slave.
McAllister says instead of communicating with a broker who could find Mitchell what he wanted, he was instead talking with an undercover investigator.
Sentencing is set for April 24th. Mitchell faces up to 30 years in prison and a fine of up to $250,000.
