New Garrison Command Sergeant Major takes over at Fort Riley

FORT RILEY, Kan. (WIBW) - Fort Riley is now home to a new Garrison Command Sergeant Major, with Thursday morning’s change of responsibility ceremony.

Outgoing Command Sergeant Major Andrew Bristow was awarded with the Meritorious Service Medal for his work while at Fort Riley.

His wife, Tarus Bristow was awarded the Patriotic Public Service award for her exceptional performance and tireless dedication to the support of the US Army Garrison at Fort Riley.

Following the awards ceremony, a change of responsibility ceremony was held, transferring responsibility from Command Sergeant Major Andrew Bristow to Command Sergeant Major Timothy Speichert.

“It is amazing, absolutely amazing, I…I feel like it’s a huge honor for me to be part of the Big Red One and the Garrison here at Fort Riley.” Command Sergeant Major Tim Speichert says.

Command Sergeant Major Speichert was most recently stationed in Fort Carson, Colorado with the 2nd Battalion, 12th Infantry Regiment, and will be joined at Fort Riley by his wife Stephanie and three daughters, Ava, Evelyn and Merritt.
