TOPEKA (WIBW)-- Planning has started for the annual National Night Out event.
Several people attended a planning meeting Tuesday night at the Topeka public library.
More than 50 neighborhoods have already registered for the night.
Event coordinator Judy Wilson says the event is a good way to connect with your neighbors.
"The neighbors want to get to know their neighbors and when they do that, it reduces the crime in their neighborhood. So they want to get to know each other and have a good time and this is a great opportunity," Wilson said.
This years Night Out is scheduled for August 10th.
If you want to get registered, just call Safe Streets at 785-266-4606.
