TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) — A motorcycle rider was seriously injured Wednesday night after a motorcycle collided with another car in front of the southeast Topeka Walmart, according to the Topeka Police Dept.

Investigators say the crash happened around 6:20 p.m. in the 2100 block of SE 25th Street. The Harley-Davidson was heading east when a westbound Mercury Sable turned left into the Walmart and the two vehicles collided.

The motorcycle rider, 39-year-old Joshua Anderson, was thrown from the bike and suffered serious injuries.

Police say the driver of the Sable, 21-year-old Matthew Pope, failed to yield.

Officers had shut down SE 25th Street from SE California Ave. to SE Burr Street, on the north side of the Supercenter, following the crash while the Accident Reconstruction Team collects evidence at the scene.
