TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW)- Midland Care officials grabbed their pom poms to cheer on supporters.
Midland Care held a Celebration Walk kickoff Breakfast Thursday morning.
“It’s a cheer leading event so people will feel inspired to go out and fundraise for us,” said Karren Weichert, CEO, Midland Care.
The breakfast is an opportunity for Midland Care to talk to sponsors and supports about why the walk is so important to their mission.
Weichert says the Celebration Walk is Midland Care’s signature event and raises $130,000 to $150,000 each year.
“It goes to offset the cost of care for people who don’t have insurance or have adequate insurance to cover the care that they need here,” Weichert said.
The 2016 walk is special for Midland Care, it is the 20th anniversary. This year’s event will be held May 13. Weichert says 5,000 people are expected to participate.
