TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) -- "we do think that we're stronger together"
MIDLAND CARE CONNECTIONS AND MEALS ON WHEELS OF SHAWNEE AND JEFFERSON COUNTY ARE JOINING FORCES IN 2017.
"In order to continue to meet the increasing need of seniors it was going to be very important that we identify a strong partner here in the community that could easily align with our mission"
BOTH TOPEKA BASED NON PROFIT ORGANIZATIONS WILL BENEFIT ECONOMICALLY- FOR FUTURE GROWTH
"both of us as we saw the opportunity to consolidate some of our back office functions, that's where we think we're going to see some economies of scale here. that gives us more dollars to put into the programming and services that we both want to provide."
THE 25 CURRENT MEALS ON WHEELS EMPLOYEES WILL BECOME EMPLOYEES OF MIDLAND CARE- THEIR RESPONSIBILITIES WILL NOT CHANGE- AND WHILE THE ADMINISTRATION WILL MERGE- CLIENT SERVICES WILL STAY SEPARATE
"We will continue to strive to do our very best in providing their services we've just identified a great way of streamlining and meeting more needs"
BOTH ORGANIZATIONS RELY HEAVILY ON THEIR VOLUNTEERS- WHO HOPE TO BENEFIT FROM THE MERGER, WITHOUT HAVING TO CHANGING THEIR CURRENT ROLES..
"We are proud of the volunteers that we have. We believe that they are strong advovates for our organizations, and they really do understand the hear of what we do so we want to retain of all of those volunteers on both sides"
