Manhattan Regional Airport sees record number of fliers in 2019
A record number of fliers began their journey at Manhattan Regional Airport last year.
The city said that more than 77,500 passengers boarded a plane there in 2019, which is nearly 7,000 more than 2018.
Airport Director Jesse Romo says they have seen a 17,000 passenger increase over the past three years, which has made MHK Regional a "trend-setter" among regional airports.
Officials say flight load capacity held strong at 73%, even as larger aircraft started flying out of the airport.
Romo says the airport's success could help attract additional air service to the facility.
The increased number of travelers using the Manhattan Regional was apparent late last year when the airport ran out of parking spaces.
Officials say they are planning to make improvements to their parking lot this year to add more spaces.
