TOPEKA (WIBW)-- Topeka Police say they do not enough information to determine whether a robbery that included gunfire is connected to a man who showed up at an area hospital two hours later with serious gunshot wounds.
Topeka Police say the man, age 27, arrived at the hospital just after 9 p.m. Wednesday. He had a serious injury to his torso, but was expected to recover.
TPD says he gave officers only vague information about how it happened, and he did not give them a location as to where the shooting occurred.
A couple hours earlier, around 7:10 p.m., TPD was called to an aggravated robbery in an apartment at 1301 SW Harrison.
Witnesses told police they heard a half-dozen gunshots.
TPD says officers found signs of a struggle, and it was apparent the robbery victim and suspect exchanged gunfire.
However, officer did not find anyone injured at the scene. They also did not have a description of any possible suspect.
At this point, police say there is not enough information to suggest whether the robbery and the person who showed up at the hospital are connected.
Anyone with information should call Crime Stoppers 785-234-0007.
