TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - A man found in a Colorado motel with a girl from Topeka made his first court appearance Monday morning.

On Saturday, Shawnee Co. District Attorney Mike Kagay announced he charged Michael Fitzgerald with aggravated interference with parental custody and contributing to a child's misconduct.

Monday, a judge barred Fitzgerald from having contact with the teenage girl and placed him on GPS monitoring. He is also not allowed to have contact with any minor.

Fitzgerald's bond was set at $250,000 and his next court date is set for Feb. 21st.

Michael Fitzgerald was arrested Thursday, January 24th in Cortez, Colorado. Topeka Police were able to track down him and the teen using a GPS navigation system in Fitzgerald's pickup.

The 14-year-old told officers she was not taken against her will.
