Man charged with murder in weekend stabbing

A Topeka man who was the person of interest in a stabbing death last weekend has been formally charged.
The Shawnee Co. District Attorneys Office has filed a premeditated first degree murder charge against 40-year-old Andrew Evans.
He is being held on $1 million bond. His next court date is September 12th.
Evans is accused of fatally stabbing 41 year-old Raymond Smith.
Authorities were called to the 1200 block of SE 33rd St. on reports of a stabbing Sunday night.
When they arrived officers found Smith, of Topeka, with life threatening injuries. He died at the scene.
