Man barricades himself in south Topeka home, commits suicide

TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) --- Multiple Topeka Police officers responded to a south Topeka home Wednesday afternoon as a domestic situation ended in a suicide.

According to the Topeka Police Dept., officers were called to the home, in the South Village Mobile Home Park, in the 4700 block of SE Girard Street, around 2:15 p.m.

Neighbors tell 13 NEWS that there was a dispute between a woman and her ex-boyfriend. They said she and her children were able to make it out of the home before the man barricaded himself inside.

Officers were able to force their way into the home around 4 p.m. and found the man had taken his own life.

TPD says no further information about the situation would be released.
