The Junior League of Topeka hoped to have a positive impact on students Wednesday.

They hosted their first Capital Impact Leadership Summit.

Students from several area schools attended the one day summit.

They heard from several people on topics such as creating relationships, presenting your best self, and suicide awareness.

Students said having these conversations helped them get to know themselves better.

“Just learning new things about myself like things that I can take away. Like ‘oh I didn’t realize that I’m one of these people so that this is how I can collaborate with others too.’ And just learning more about how to help other,” a senior at Hayden High School, Rosie Anguiano, said.

Mayor Michelle De La Isla was the keynote speaker.

She gave a presentation about overcoming hurdles to achieve your potential.
