Norsemen Brewing Company and Topeka Yoga Network teamed up on Saturday to save animals through yoga.

Both companies wanted to bring fun and fitness to the NOTO District, so they started a yoga class. The class takes place upstairs in Norsemen Brewing Company every Saturday at 11:30 a.m.

The unique thing about the class, is they use beer as a prop. Topeka Yoga Network co-owner Evelyn Spangler said the beer adds more of a challenge to the balance poses.

This Saturday, Helping Hands Humane Society joined them with a couple lovable dogs and cats.

The shelter is currently over capacity, and Spangler decided she wanted to help out. She spoke to the owners of Norsemen Brewing Co. and then reached out to Helping Hands.

Those that attended class had the opportunity to adopt an animal.

Topeka Yoga Network and Norsemen Brewing Co. donated part of their earnings toward the adoption fees.

Mandi Stonebraker with Helping Hands said they enjoy events like this, because it reaches different parts of the community. She added, "The more exposure that we can get, the better. So, the better turnout they have, the more likely it is for the animals to get adopted."

Everyone involved said they hope to do more "Adopt a Pet Yoga" events in the future.
