TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - 3rd grade students learned about the joy of live theater Thursday.
Students from Jardine Elementary School attended the Sheffel Theatre Clinic at the Topeka Performing Arts Center Thursday afternoon.
The students attended five different workshops, each about a different aspect of theater. Those included acting and vocal expression, movement, makeup, costumes and technical theater.
The goal is to get the students interested in theater, whether that's on stage or behind the scenes.
"It's very important for the children to get arts for the culture and for the aesthetic values they get from this and I just think it's extremely important that Topeka supports this and gives their children a chance to see this," said TPAC Board Member Barbara Ebert.
The Sheffel Theater Clinic was started in 1995.
