Lights are back on after brief power outage in West Topeka

Lights went out Monday afternoon in West Topeka.

According to Gina Penzig with Evergy says crews were working on a powerline when a piece of their equipment fell onto the line. It knocked out power for many more than 3,000 people in West Topeka for 30 minutes.

The Topeka Police Department was working several intersections. They included:

  • 10th and Fairlawn
  • 17th and Fairlawn
  • Huntoon and Fairlawn
  • 17th and Bell

Power was restored around 2:30 p.m.
