They say recent shootings won't stop them from living their lives.
“Every community has its issues. It has its challenges. Every community has crime, but I feel like ours is really not to that level on regular basis what’s so ever,” Sally Zogry, Executive Director of Downtown Lawrence, Inc., said.
People we spoke with urged others to not let recent violence paint Lawrence as a bad place.
“Still bad things can happen, but think that the rate is quite small which is why when something like this does happen, it is as big of a deal as it is here, because it’s so out of the usual.”
Lawrence police say their investigation into the shooting is still ongoing. Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call Lawrence police at 785-832-7509 or Crime Stoppers of Lawrence and Douglas Co. at 785-843-TIPS.
