TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - Lake Shawnee has been named as one of the best places in Kansas to visit.
Members of the Shawnee Co. Parks and Rec, along with Commissioners, got their picture taken at Monday morning's meeting with the ArrivaLIST award. ArrivaLIST is a company that partnered with the Kansas Dept. of Wildlife, Parks and Tourism to keep track of visitors entering the state after visiting the department's website.
The company tracked people from out-of-state.
"The way they collected that information, visitors had to travel at least 50 miles, they had to stay at least 30 minutes, and they could only visit once within a two week period," said Kelli Hilliard, the PR and Travel Development Manager for KDWPT.
Blind Tiger was named one of the best breweries or winners.
Massachusetts Street in Lawrence won the overall best attraction in the state.
