Kids ride buses free this summer thanks to Topeka Metro

TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - With summer right around the corner, the Topeka Metro is giving kids a chance to have a great break from school at no cost.

Starting May 15th, Topeka Metro is letting kids 18 and under ride their buses for free until August 15th.

“This provides a safe, reliable way for kids in our community to get to where they need to go during the summer months while saving money," former Topeka Metro General Manager Susan Duffy said.

The popular program launched in 2013, and Duffy says riding public transit is a great skill for children to learn.

"They can ride the bus to the pools, head to the mall, meet their friends or visit grandparents,” she added.

The Metro says the free rides are for fixed bus routes only. To see maps and times, click here
