Kansas house republicans want to revitalize rural areas

(AP)-- Kansas house republicans outlined a plan aimed at revitalizing rural areas.

The package includes allowing tax-deductible deposits to a savings account for buying or building a first home.

Another proposal creates a $30 million fund to help rural hospitals hire consultants and plan for overhauling their operations.

Their plan also exempts more seniors from paying state income taxes on their social security benefits.
