MANHATTAN, Kan. (WIBW) -- Top minds in the Kansas Energy Industries gathered Thursday in Manhattan for the Governor’s Energy Conference.

The Kansas Department of Commerce hosted the two-day event, focusing on the state’s natural gas, wind, and solar industries.

Panelists discussed topics like biofuel and energy storage, and innovative ways to change transportation.

Gov. Jeff Colyer says the energy industry is the most successful in the state. They want to expand it and bring new energy solutions to Kansas.

“Energy is a top issue for the state of Kansas. The diversity of our economy is dependent on a great energy system. We are one of the leading oil and gas states but we’re also a leading wind state and a leading ethanol state,” said Colyer.

The conference will continue Friday.
