TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - The 2019 Financial Summit was held today at One Security Benefit Place in Topeka.

The Financial Summit featured leaders from the Kansas Department of Commerce, the Kansas Insurance Department, the Greater Topeka Partnership, Security Benefit Corporation, and more than 150 Kansas business leaders and stakeholders.

The focus of the summit was to discuss strategies that will further develop the region's competitive edge and drive results through entrepreneurship, innovation, and especially focusing on young local talent.

"We really need to work on creating exciting, new jobs that our young talent wants to stick around in the state of Kansas for. We're going to ask ourselves what is the vision for a successful Kansas and how do we get there. That includes how we keep our young talent here working for us in our state and developing our own economy" said John Guyot

There were four different panels held throughout the day each focusing on a different strategy that would help improve the region. Congressman Roger Marshall was there to discuss the growth and competitiveness of Kansas. Many other speakers shared their thoughts and ideas on how the region could improve as well.

"We certainly have our strengths, but we also do have to acknowledge that we have some weaknesses that need to be discussed" says Guyot
