You may have money just sitting in the state vaults and not know it.

That’s why Kansas State Treasurer’s office is using Tax Day to remind Kansans there is unclaimed cash and property available to them to claim.

Treasurer Jake LaTurner says to claim money or property, it’s 100% free and safe by visiting KansasCash.com. LaTurner warns that if you go to a website that asks for money to do the search, it’s a scam.

The state currently has over $300 million dollars in unclaimed property.

The average return is over $200. At one point, the Sedan Community Hospital even found cash totally up to $10,000. That money helped pay for a new roof for the hospital.
