TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - An organization representing 400 men and women who patrol Kansas highways has officially endorsed a candidate for governor.

The Kansas State Trooper's Association is backing current Governor Jeff Colyer. The group's president applauded Colyer's support for law enforcement and says he's worked well with their organization.

"He's stable, we understand where he's coming from," said Bryan Clark, the organizations' president. "It's a real easy work environment, he has shown he supports law enforcement and in this day and age that's huge for us."

Colyer says he's honored to have the endorsement. He and fellow GOP candidates Kris Kobach, Ken Selzer, Jim Barnett and P.K. Kucera will take part in a forum live on WIBW-TV at 6:15 Tuesday, July 10th.
