Kansas Highway Patrol says DUI arrests were up this holiday weekend

TOPEKA, Kan (WIBW) -- The Kansas Highway Patrol released its Thanksgiving Weekend Activity Report.

According to the report KHP saw 19 DUI arrests over the holiday weekend. That number is up from 2018 where 16 arrests were reported. In 2017 12 arrests were reported.

There were two non-DUI fatal crashes. That number is down from last year where there were five.

KHP also worked five non-DUI related fatalities. The same number was reported in 2018.

Troopers also handed out 874 speed citations. That number is down from last year where 1,195 citations.

The reporting period for the holiday ran from 6 p.m. Wednesday, November 27th through 11:59 p.m. Sunday, December 1st.
