The University of Kansas Health System has been given a national award for its state-of-the-art cardiac center.
The Joint Commission, the nation's leading accrediting body, granted the hospital with its first ever comprehensive cardiac center certification.
The commission says the award was given to the hospital for its comprehensive approach to care and its commitment to excellence in their heart program.
KU Health, along with Tennessee-based company Ardent Health, are in the process of buying St. Francis Hospital in Topeka.
