TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) -- A corrections officer at the Kansas Juvenile Correctional Complex in Topeka is still in the hospital after being assaulted.

According to the Kansas Department of Corrections, the officer was attacked Thursday morning.

“The incident transpired when an offender refused orders from the officer and shoved the officer, resulting in a fall,” said KDOC spokesperson, Rebecca Witte.

Witte said the incident was under control within minutes of it starting.

The officer was the only one hurt, but they could not say how badly.
