KHP: Paola man killed in KDOT snow plow roll over
The Kansas Highway Patrol has released the name of the 25-year-old Paola man killed in an early Saturday morning rollover crash in Johnson Co.
Investigators say Stephen Windler was heading south on U.S.-69, about a mile south of Stilwell, around 5:50 a.m. when his snow plow went off the right side of the road and into the grass. The vehicle started to spin and then tipped over, dumping the salt load.
According to KHP's crash report, Windler was thrown from the plow as it rolled over completely. The vehicle came to a rest on its passenger side and on top of him. Windler was pronounced dead on the scene.
Investigators have not determined why Windler went off the highway.
They added that Windler was not wearing his seat belt at the time of the crash.
