TOPEKA (WIBW)--- 2019 is seeing the retirements of some big names on the community leadership scene, and now that includes the leader of SLI.

Friends wished Jo Ann Tate farewell at her 3-hour retirement party Thursday evening. The going away party was held in the SLI building that housed Sheltered Living before the name change.

Jo Ann has been their Development VP for six years and has dedicated two dozen years of her career to helping Topeka, primarily in her work with the Red Cross before making the move to SLI.

She's also been a big force in making their December "Festival of Trees" even bigger each holiday season. Jo Ann says, in retiring, she'll spend more time with the grandchildren, and with her new husband.
