School calls 911, Jefferson Co. Sheriff investigates battery

TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) -- Sheriff Deputies in Jefferson County say they are investigating a battery that sent two to the hospital.

According to Sheriff Jeff Herrig, deputies were called to Jefferson West Elementary School for an unknown problem around 10:00a.m.

When they arrived, they learned that there was a possible Aggravated Battery in the 600 block of S. Owen in Meriden.

One adult was found in Meriden and another adult was found in Topeka. No children were involved in the battery.

Both were taken to Stormont Vail hospital, with one victim being cut by a box cutter. The injuries are considered non-life threatening.

Herrig said he could not release any more details because the case is still under investigation.
