TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) -- The Jackson County Sheriff Office will be getting new equipment thanks to a federal grant.

According to Sheriff Tim Morse, his agency was awarded nearly $130,000 through the Federal Edward J. Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant Program.

He says the grant is used for updating mobile and portable radios.

“Currently, radio equipment used by deputies are in need of being updated due to age,” said Morse in a news release.

The grant was awarded by the Kansas Criminal Justice Coordinating Council.
