TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) --- The Kansas Dept. of Transportation has pushed back its plans to close the ramp from westbound I-470 onto westbound I-70 this weekend.
Because of the rain Friday morning, the agency decided to push back the road work to June 28-July 1. Crews will spend the weekend repairing the bridge and laying new asphalt on the deck, they explained.
They chose to do it in two weeks rather than next weekend so the construction won't interfere with Country Stampede. KDOT notes they do not plan to have closures on Topeka highways during the event.
Drivers will be detoured onto eastbound I-70 where they will exit onto SW Wanamaker Rd. and get back onto I-70 West.
Topeka-based contractor Bettis Asphalt and Construction will do the work and it is expected to cost $123,000, KDOT added.
