HORTON, Kan. (WIBW)-- As employees of a local hospital continue to work without having been paid, Horton officials say the future of Horton Community Hospital itself may be in jeopardy.
Hospital staff say they have not been paid since Feb. 15. City administrator and Police Chief John Calhoon tells 13 NEWS people fear, if the staff isn’t paid this Friday, that the hospital may close.
"We are very concerned and working to have conversations about finding a way to attract and obtain another provider of some sort if this were to happen," Calhoon said.
Calhoon says the City is working on a solution. 13 NEWS also reached out to Horton Community Hospital CEO Ty Compton for a statement and we will update this story with any response.
Calhoon estimates Horton Community Hospital currently employs about 40-50 people.
