One in custody after standoff in Hutchinson

HUTCHINSON, Kan. (KWCH) -- UPDATE 2:00 p.m.

A standoff in Hutchinson ended peacefully after a man threatened cops from inside a home in the 300 block of east 11th.

Police say they were trying to arrest a 17-year-old man for probation when the suspect wouldn't come out of his home.

Officers say he was armed and threatened them.

The man inside the home surrendered to law enforcement shortly before 2 p.m.

No one was injured in the incident.


Officers from several departments are responding to a situation near the Hutchinson Community College campus.

Viewers submitted several photos of officers with rifles drawn at a home near 11th and Poplar.

According to neighbors in that area, they are being told to stay inside their homes.

Eyewitness News has a crew on the way to the scene to gather more information.

Eyewitness News placed several calls to officials with Reno County and is waiting for a response.
