TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) -- Gov. Kelly and Transportation Secretary Julie Lorenz discussed the details of their proposed plan: FORWARD.
Under FORWARD, major infrastructure projects will be selected every two years, rather than every ten years as it is now, and a new cost-share program will be implemented. All existing T-WORKS projects will also be completed under the new plan.
Kelly and Lorenz touted FORWARD's ability to adapt and fix problems faster than the current system.
“It will make it more efficient, safer, and increase the quality of life, which will help us in our other needs, which is to retain and recruit folks into Kansas.”
Kelly believes FORWARD will help the state’s economy flourish.
“Our communities are desperate for this, it's the only way they can grow, if they have the infrastructure on which to build."
