IOLA, Kan. (WIBW) -- A nursing home company from Georgia was given a $100,000 fine and a 10-year ban from Kansas, according to Kansas Attorney General Derek Schmidt.

Humboldt's Pinecrest Nursing Home, owned by AltaCare Corporation, reportedly failed to protect patient and employee records. Along with the fine and ban, they were ordered to destroy all records for the Pinecrest Nursing Home.

There is another $125,000 fine that is suspended on the condition that the company continues to act in compliance with the other terms of the judgment.

The nursing home closed in 2011, and was broken into multiple times after that. During that time, personal records were reportedly left out in plain sight.
