TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - The Geary County School District welcomed its superintendent Thursday morning.
Dr. Reginald Eggleston has nearly 25 years of experience in public education. He currently serves as a Lieutenant Colonel in the Army Reserves. He says his background will help in a district where so many students' parents serve on Fort Riley.
He also discussed the new, $105-million dollar high school under construction with an opening expected in August 2021.
"I look forward to working with our board, our logistics department and all of the contractors who will be a part of that task," Dr. Eggleston said. "It's something that we're going to have to have numerous conversations about throughout the development of it just to make sure we're all on the same page and that we are prepared to open it at the date that has been set."
Dr. Eggleston said he's presented the board a 120 day plan for working on policies, budgets and growing the community.
He starts in April, moving from Mobile, Alabama.
