TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) Almost a third of all gas stations across the state are selling fuel for less than $2 a gallon.
AAA Kansas says the state average is $2.12 a gallon, which is down 12 cents in the past week and 42 cents over the past month.
The agency says they expect to price of fuel to continue to fluctuate throughout the month, and could possibly drop even more.
Kansas has the sixth cheapest gas in the country, and it is the cheapest prices the Sunflower state has seen all year.
Fuel costs peaked around Memorial Day weekend, where drivers paid an average of $2.72 per gallon.
AAA says the price drop is attributed to the global crude supply growing faster than anticipated.
Missouri and South Carolina have the cheapest prices across the country, while Hawaii and California are the most expensive.
