TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - Kansans are getting good news at the pump as gas prices across the state continue to drop.

AAA of Kansas says the average price for a gallon of gas in the Sunflower State is $1.93, 31 cents lower than the national average and the 9th cheapest in America. It is now 15% lower than this time last year.

“Despite the recent busy holiday travel period, gasoline demand has remained low, while supply is still plentiful in the market,” said AAA Kansas spokesman Shawn Steward. “The result is great news for motorists, who get to enjoy the cheap prices at the pumps.”

The average price of a gallon in Topeka this week is $1.92, down 3 cents from last week. In Emporia, it's $1.90 a gallon, down 5 cents from last week. In Manhattan, an average gallon will cost you $2.09, down two cents from last week.

Missouri, Oklahoma and Arkansas are the states with the lowest gas prices.
