Fort Riley soldier found dead in Grandview Plaza

A ‘Big Red One’ soldier was found dead earlier this week inside a Grandview Plaza, Kansas, apartment, according to Fort Riley.

Nineteen-year-old Pfc. Spencer Rose’s body was found Wednesday, officials said. His death remains under investigation.

"We are deeply saddened by the passing of Pfc. Spencer Rose," said Lt. Col. Glenn McQuown, 1st ARB, 1st Avn. Regt., 1st CAB, commander. "Our thoughts, prayers and support go out to his family and friends during this difficult time."

The Connersville, Indiana, native had joined the Army last July and came to Fort Riley in March of last year. He was serving as an aircraft structural repairer with 1st Attack Reconnaissance Battalion, 1st Aviation Regiment, 1st Combat Aviation Brigade, 1st Inf. Div. The incident remains under investigation.

Rose earned the Army Service Ribbon and the National Defense Service Ribbon. He had not been deployed.
