MANHATTAN, Kan. (WIBW) — A 30-year-old Fort Riley man was found dead early Monday morning alongside Interstate 70 near Manhattan, the Geary Co. Sheriff's Office said.

According to the Sheriff's Office, a deputy spotted a vehicle parked on eastbound I-70, near the Mile Marker 311 exit, just west of the Hwy. 177 interchange, shortly after midnight.

Alejandro Jonathan Franquiz was discovered in the vehicle, authorities said.

An autopsy has been ordered and the results are expected later this week, they added.

The Sheriff's Office did not say if Franquiz was a soldier, noting that they will not release any other information until their investigation is complete.
