Former Kansas running back Khalil Herbert announced on Twitter that he'll transfer to Virginia Tech.
Herbert abruptly left the team before a road loss against TCU. Later the senior said that he would be redshirting.
Herbert said his initial plan was to return to Kansas for his senior season. Herbert cited "unforeseen consequences" that led to his inability to redshirt then return to KU.
Virginia Tech finished the regular season at 8-4.
In the four games he played this season, Herbert logged 384 rushing yards. He leaves the program with 1,735 yards for his career.
