TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) -- Good food. Great Drinks. An atmosphere unlike any other. The Blind Tiger has been serving up all those things for the past 25 years.
When you think of the Blind Tiger, you may think of amazing beer.
“We truly have world class beer at the Blind Tiger Brewery and Restaurant. 22 national and international awards,” touted owner Jay Ives.
But aside from the beer, the menu is filled with mouthwatering dishes that will keep you coming back.
“We like to say steak, pasta, seafood, BBQ. A very broad menu so there is something here that almost anyone from Topeka is going to like,” Ives said.
His top pick on the menu is the ribeye steak.
“It’s choice. 21 days wet aged. Its hand cut right here. It's Kansas beef to the extent that we can get Kansas beef. So we’re pretty proud of that,” he boasted.
Ives is also especially proud of his grill masters who cook it. With over 20 years of experience, they are able to cook a steak like no one else.
“A lot of cooks like me, I don’t even need a temp. I can feel it and know the different feeling from the mid rare to a well done,” said one grill master while preparing a steak.
Try the steak with a side of a baked potato and their famous fried stuffed mushrooms to start you off. The cream cheese stuffing is a special recipe, and the mushrooms are handpicked from a cave in Pennsylvania. Then top it off with a beer made right there in the building, it’s a combo that is sure to please everyone.
“Some come for the beer and stay for the food. Some come for the food and stay for the beer. It’s a partnership and it works together,” said Ives.
The beer, in Ives’ opinion, is the key to their success. He has a full-time beer master who’s made it his life mission to make the best brew.
“There’s going to be from light to dark. From hoppy to malty. From mild to strong. There’s a beer here for everyone,” he listed.
And even the little ones get a brew of their own, a root beer, also brewed in house.
The Blind Tiger has been at 417 SW 37th St for almost 25 years, and has plans to stay there for many more years to come.
