Fork in the Road: Milton's Cafe has a taste for everyone to enjoy
It's a coffee shop that doubles as a great brunch stop.
Since 1997, Milton's Cafe in Lawrence has been serving the hearts of the community.
"People come from different walks of life and I really just like bringing people together in that way," owner of Milton's Cafe, David Lewis said. "I've seen little kids grow up from the time their moms are carrying them around in their tummies and now their grownups on their own and now their grownups on their own."
It provides a taste for everyone to enjoy. A regular customer Tom Miesse says he comes in Milton's Cafe twice a day sometimes.
"Always the coffee, but I try to switch it up and change it a little bit, but I do like this place a lot," Miesse said.
Lewis says wanted to offer something you can't find anywhere else, " I just fell in love with coffee shops and the idea of these cool breakfast spots, so I decided to go into the coffee shop business."
Customers can enjoy a diverse menu of breakfast and lunch.
"Our menu has been crafted over basically since we been open," Lewis explained. "A lot of Mexican style breakfast as well, jeeves ron cheros. We do breakfast tacos, then we have the traditional things like eggs benedict, french toast, pancakes, bacon, biscuits and gravy."
Customers are able to have as much as possible with self-serving themselves, people come in twice a day for a cup.
"The people in Lawrence kind of created our menu for us in some ways. Over the years, we kind of just look at what's popular, what sells, what people like and that's basically what our menu is," Lewis said. "I've met so many people and I love meeting new people, and this is a great place to do that."
David says the best part of the restaurant is the people. "The ambiance of people, everybody's nice, everybody knows your name and its pleasant, convenient. I can read the paper before I go out to the farm," Miesse said.
