WAMEGO, Kan. (WIBW) - You don’t have to worry about the wicked witch when you head into this Wamego restaurant for Taco Tuesday and every day.

Originally opened in 2005 by Craig and Colleen Lord, Toto’s TacOZ in downtown Wamego was purchased in August by Stephanie Huntzinger, when the Lords decided it was time to retire.

“It’s my passion and what I love to do. I love to serve; I love to be with the people.” Toto’s TacOZ, owner, Stephanie Huntzinger says.

Colleen and Craig have given Stephanie their recipes and taught her how to make all the dishes from scratch.

“In my opinion, it was perfect. I…I liked how they did everything. I liked the California-Mex type of food that they had.” Huntzinger says.

“I like Toto’s TacOZ because it’s a great local business and my friends, Stephanie and Brian own it, and they have great food and they always have.” Toto’s TacOZ customer, Rachel Corn says.

If you haven’t been to Toto’s recently, you’ll only notice a couple changes in the décor and the staff uniforms.

“When I came in I worked really hard to keep everything exactly the same…so…including the staff.” Huntzinger says.

Toto’s TacOZ is a Wizard of Oz themed restaurant, with decorations that include characters from the movie, and menu items like the Yellow Brick Burrito, Auntie Em’s Quesadilla, and of course Toto’s Tacos.

“My favorite thing on the menu is probably…I like just the crunchy tacos…I really, really like a good crunchy taco.” Huntzinger says.

“I pretty much always get the quesadilla, every single time.” customer, Rachel Corn says.

Becky: Stephanie has worked in food service for most of her adult life and has finally found a way to enjoy her career while fulfilling her passion.

“It’s just something that I’ve always really loved to do.” Huntzinger says.

Toto’s TacOZ is open Tuesday through Saturday from 11 AM to 5:30 PM, with carryout available. They will host a ribbon cutting this Friday, December 6th at 11 AM.
