MANHATTAN, Kan. (WIBW) The Flint Hills Volunteer Center hosted a 9/11 Remembrance Luncheon ahead of Wednesday night’s Remembrance Ceremony at Bishop Stadium in Manhattan.
Volunteers, community members, city leaders, law enforcement and fire department members all came together for the luncheon.
Throughout the luncheon guests shared their stories with their tables, recalling where they were on that fateful day, September 11, 2001.
Among the guest speakers at the luncheon were Attorney General Derek Schmidt, and former Central Intelligence Agency executive, Chuck Banks.
“It really is appropriate, I think, to stop once a year and remember…what happened, why it happened, what we’ve done as a consequence of it happening, and also to pay tribute to those who work day-in and day-out, military and civilian, in order to make sure it never happens again.” Attorney General Derek Schmidt says.
Former Central Intelligence Agency executive, Chuck Banks, will be speaking at Wednesday evenings 9/11: A Day of Remembrance ceremony at 7 pm at Bishop Stadium in Manhattan’s Cico Park.
